Nebo nad Otavom je zbog požara bilo narandžasto, a građani se pozivaju na oprez zbog zagađenja vazduha. Zbog dima koji dolazi iz Kanade i Njujork se našao u vrhu liste najzagađenijih gradova na svijetu. Požara ima i u Ontariju i Alberti, čemu su doprinijele visoke temperature i suvi vremenski uslovi.

Vatra je zahvatila i druge pokrajine, a smatra se da bi ovogodišnji šumski požari mogli biti najteži u istoriji Kanade. Nadležni očekuju tešku ljetnju sezonu.
